Sandwich

The Atlantic Circuit Trail in Sandwich includes one of the longest continuous stretches of completed trail, stretching roughly 7.1 miles between the Barnstable town line and the Service Road north of Telegraph Hill. The route is still a work in progress, and currently sits at 77 percent completion. Trail users will traverse a multitude of landscapes, including forested moraine and seasonal and tidal wetlands, as well as pass by numerous kettle ponds formed from melting glaciers approximately 10,000 years ago.

Note: Blazing is still a work in progress, and is nonexistent in most areas.

Note: The stretch of trail between the old Discovery Hill cart path west of Quaker Meetinghouse Road, and the Service Road north of Telegraph Hill, is currently very steep and is only recommended for experienced trail users. A project is in the works to reroute most of this section onto sustainable trail; until then, proceed with caution.
