Wareham

Wareham 1.jpg

Boasting jaw-dropping views of tidal estuaries, expansive marshes, and vibrant cranberry bogs, Wareham has the potential to be a spectacular segment of the Atlantic Circuit Trail. The trail currently follows roads between West Wareham and Marion, while we await a footpath along the Fairhaven Branch railroad bed.

Douglas Westgate/Fearing Hill/Railroad Bed Reroute Scouting

On November 17th, 2023, a future segment of the Atlantic Circuit Trail began initial planning. This roughly 4-mile stretch incorporates existing trails within Douglas Westgate Conservation Area and Fearing Hill Conservation Area, as well as a future stretch through private undeveloped land, and atop the abandoned Fairhaven Branch railroad bed to a terminus at Fearing Hill Road. This 4-mile link will move a large stretch of the Atlantic Circuit Trail, currently unsigned, off of busy, narrow County Road and onto a wooded trail. Scouting is planned to commence by next year.
